Rita Flores

| May 4, 2017 – May 28, 2017

The show exhibited at our select current venue is titled Heroes and Bombshells by local artist, Rita Flores. Her work is created on the iPad using several art related apps. Flores creates her work by combining several different apps. One of the main apps she uses is Inkpad – a vector drawing app. The other apps she uses are Wordphoto, Percolator, PicGrunger and Sketchbook Pro for creating unique textures. For Flores, using an iPad to create art allows her to draw directly on the iPad and have unlimited palette of colors to work with!

Flores’ artwork is influenced by Pop culture from the 60’s through today, including comic books, tv shows, rock music and classic films. The artists who inspire Flores the most are Matisse, Giacometti, Picasso, and Warhol.

“I embrace using the iPhone and iPad as art tools. I was one of the first people to create artwork on the iPad, as part of a Mobile Digital group on Flickr. I had also created over 200 iPad portraits as part of an online group called Julia Kay’s Portrait Party on Flickr.” ~ Rita Flores.
